OPERA America Offers Internet Career Resource

MetOpera2 Opera artists now have a new online resource at their disposal.

OPERA America announced the launch of the Career Guide for Opera, a database that can be found on their website. This new tool provides career guidance and information for emerging artists, administrators, and technical/production staff in the opera field.

“The Career Guide for Opera provides information that is essential for emerging opera professionals, but has never before been available from a single authoritative and accessible source,” said President and CEO of Opera America Marc A. Scorca in a press release.

The database includes over 1,000 career listings and details about producing organizations, training programs, universities, conservatories, competitions, grants, and much more. Information is added and updated on a regular basis in the form of articles, videos, and podcasts. Content ranges from business advice, to artist management, to auditions.

The Career Guide for Opera is only available to members of OPERA America, with membership starting at $30.

Founded in 1970, OPERA America has grown to include almost 200 company members, 300  associate and business members, and over 18,000 subscribers to its electronic news service. In 2005 the organization relocated from Washington D.C. to New York to create the first ever National Opera Center.
