Redbox President Resigns; Apple May Bid for Hulu

Rachel • Mitch Lowe, the president of Redbox, announced he would be stepping down from the kiosk-DVD rental company. The Los Angeles Times reported that Lowe resigned just after the company’s affiliate, Coinstar Inc., produced preliminary second quarter reports that disappointed Wall St.

• If Netflix wasn’t already aching from its customers’ dropped subscriptions, Apple may add insult to injury. Deadline reported that Apple is “considering a bid for Hulu,” which would place them in the competitive online-streaming market.

• Actress Rachel Griffiths, who some may know as Sarah from ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters,” will be replacing Elizabeth Marvel in the Broadway production of “Other Desert Cities.” The New York Times has the story.

• It’s a battle of the Simons. Simon Fuller, creator of the hit “American Idol,” is demanding credit for “The X Factor,” another musical talent search with former “Idol” judge Simon Cowell on its panel. Read the story at the Washington Post.
