Judy Garland on Broadway; Payne to Close NY Film Fest

Tracie • The London musical drama depicting Judy Garland’s final days, “End of the Rainbow,” will be coming to Broadway next year. Tracie Bennett, the two time Oliver Award winner who played Garland in London, will be reprising that role in the Broadway version, reported The New York Times.

• Alexander Payne’s “The Descendants” was chosen as the closing night selection for this year’s New York Film Festival. This is Payne’s first feature film since 2004’s “Sideways.” Read the story at The Wall Street Journal (subscription required).

• Netflix is preparing to expand overseas to Spain and Britain in the next year, according to The Los Angeles Times. The company is also considering a spread to other countries in Europe and Asia.

• Fans of “ER” may see a familiar face on ABC’s “Pan Am.” Goran Visnjic, who played Dr. Luka Kovac on “ER” for nearly a decade,” has just been cast in a four episode arc on the 1960’s jet-age drama. Entertainment Weekly has the story.
