LifeRaft Event Notice - Comedy Writing Workshop with The Peoples Improv Theater!

Writing The Screen Actors Guild Foundation invites New York City union members to a two-hour Comedy Writing Workshop with The Peoples Improv Theater.

Interested in writing for comedy?  Want to have your work seen by a larger audience?  Need to pitch a script to industry professionals?  Learn from the best at the Peoples Improv Theater!  This two hour seminar will cover the basics of comedy writing, from structure and discipline to gathering and pitching ideas, to exploring ways to get your work seen today. Folks from the PIT’s Professional Writing Program have gone on to write for The Daily Show, SNL, MTV and more. Bring a paper and pen and get ready to dive in!

BIOS

ETHAN T. BERLIN is an Emmy Award nominated comedy writer and performer who has written for scores of today’s top comedy stars, including Sacha Baron Cohen, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Dave Attell, Will Arnett, and George Lopez. His credits include, Da’ Ali G Show (HBO), Lopez Tonight (TBS), Crank Yankers (Comedy Central), and Talk Show With Spike Feresten (Fox). He has sold pilots to IFC, Cartoon Network, and MTV. Ethan has performed on most of the shows he's written for and is a graduate of the Peoples Improv Theater.

PIT Instructor JOE SCHIAPPA is a writer and improvisationalist in New York City. He is a recent winner of the Sierra Mist Melrose 63 Creative Lab. His work has appeared at the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, Joe's Pub, The People's Improv Theater and Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He recently wrote a screenplay with Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Knocked Up). Back Stage has called Joe's work "hilarious." About The Peoples Improv Theater -

The Peoples Improv Theater is dedicated to the instruction, performance, and development of original comedy.
