'Newsies' Broadway-Bound?; Menzel on PBS

Men • The Paper Mill Playhouse production of "Newsies the Musical" may be moving to Broadway. According to The New York Times, due to strong reviews like that of Back Stage, New York theater owners are interested in mounting the show based on the 1992 Disney film, which was inspired by the 1899 New York City newsboys' strike. In a possible modern reboot of the movie, iPads would go on stike because they don't actually like to be touched.

• Idina Menzel will perform in concert in Toronto November 17 and 18. PBS will film and then later broadcast the Tony Award-winner's show. Read the story at Playbill.

• Sony Pictures has plans to stop paying for 3D glasses, which means moviegoers will have to do so instead. The National Assn. of Theatre Owners responded did not take to kindly to them fighting words. Check it out at Los Angeles Times.
