Perry Tops Forbes' List; Nathan Lane Pilot Greenlit

LaneForbes magazine released a list of the highest-paid men in entertainment, which of course makes everyone feel like a million bucks. Tyler Perry tops the list by raking in $130 million.

• Lions Gates's biggest movie franchise so far has been the "Saw" series, which are not about cutting wood. Now the studio is betting huge on "Hunger Games," giving the film a budget of nearly $100 million because it has "four quadrant" appeal, meaning young and old men and women may enjoy it. The same can be said for food. Los Angeles Times has the story.

• Sony Pictures rolled out a few films at the Toronto Film Festival. Normally the big studios stay out of festivals because they tend to be for people who call themselves "artists" and not fans of mega-blockbusters like Sony's "Spider-Man." The New York Times discusses how the studio is attempting to make both mainstream and art.

Deadline reported that USA has greenlit an untitled pilot starring and produced by Nathan Lane.
