Gotham Nominations Announced

The Gotham Award nominations were announced today. celebrating the best in independent film. While the definition of "independent" can vary, in this case it refers to movies made with a budget of under $20 million. Quite a few films you can expect to see popping up at the Academy Awards are featured, from "Beginners" (supporting actor Christopher Plummer is considered a lock for an Oscar nom) to Alexander Payne's acclaimed "The Descendants." The Gotham Awards are also one of the few shows that feature an Ensemble category; this year, the casts of "Beginners," "The Descendants," Margin Call," "Martha Marcy May Marlene," and "Take Shelter" are recognized.

Full list of nominations after the jump.
