• For all you frugal people out there, worrying about an empty wallet may no longer be an excuse to cheap out on a date. The Wrap reported that the average movie ticket price has dropped to $7.96.

• The only recipient of the Back Stage's Garland Award for lifetime achievement, producer Gilbert Cates, died at age 77. He produced 14 Academy Award shows and won 17 Emmys. Read his obituary at Back Stage.

• It looks like Gilbert Cates isn’t the only senior leaving a legacy. Instead of retiring from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, 77-year-old Joan H. Weill is continuing to help homeless dance students find housing in NYC. Read about her goals at The New York Times.
