Trevor Nunn Plans 'Night Music' Revival

0428 ESPRESSO Nunn Director Trevor Nunn (Les Miserables, Arcadia, the 2002-03 revival of Oklahoma!) will lead a Broadway revival of the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical A Little Night Music sometime this fall, according to a casting notice sent to Back Stage.

It would be the first-ever Broadway revival of the musical, which won five Tony Awards in 1973.

The casting notice says all roles are open. The production is scheduled to begin rehearsals in October and open sometime in December.

Auditions will be held Monday, May 11; Thursday, May 14; and Friday, May 15; they will run from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., AEA Audition Center, 165 W. 46th St., 2nd Floor. Auditioners should prepare a brief, contemporary musical theatre song; bring sheet music, as well as a headshot and resume, stapled together.

Nunn is currently directing a version in London's West End that features Hannah Waddingham as Desiree, Maureen Lipman as Madame Armfeldt, Alexander Hanson as Fredrik, Kelly Price as Countess Charlotte Malcolm and Jessie Buckley as Anne Egerman.

Last December, Roundabout Theatre Company staged a benefit concert reading that starred Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Natasha Richardson in the mother-daughter roles of Madame Armfeldt and Desiree. In March, Richardson died as a result of injuries suffered in a skiing accident.
