Speedy Gonzales Film Planned, Lopez On Board
New Line is giving Speedy Gonzales the big-screen treatment. “Garfield” alums Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen are adapting the tale of the Looney Tunes character into a feature blending live action and computer animation. Attached to voice the fast paced mouse is George Lopez, who will also co-produce the project. Speedy debuted in the 1950s in a self-titled short film, which won the Academy Award for best short subject. Those at work on the film are aiming to move away from the common stereotypes centered on the characters, which will allow for a more modern, present day adaptation.
