Redbox Pens Movie Rental Deal

Redbox As of Thursday, the rental chain has reached agreements with Universal and Fox Studios to wait 28 days before making their new-release DVD movies available for its $1 rentals, says the Hollywood Reporter. The chain will have to wait nearly a month for big titles like “Avatar,” set to release May 28. As part of the deal, Redbox has also agreed not to sell used DVDs from the studios. The company had already settled a deal with Warner and is in the process of making arrangements with Sony, Lionsgate, and Paramount.
