'Daytime Emmy Winners Announced; Taymor Speaks Out

Mike • The Daytime Emmy Awards aired on Sunday night. Michael Park, who is starring in Broadway's ""How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying." won best actor for "As the World Turns," which was recently canceled. Los Angeles Times has a list of the winners and a critique of the ceremony that apparently was a televised brochure for Las Vegas.

• "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn died early Monday morning. He was 34 years old. Dunn also had roles in the indie film "Haggard: The Movie" and "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." Read the story at NBC.

• Ousted "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" director Julie Taymor made her first public comments about the musical since it officially opened last Tuesday. According to The New York Times, she chastised her former producers for relying too much on the responses of audience focus groups. The Times also created a nifty chart comparing and contrasting the success of "The Book of Mormon" and the struggle of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," coming to the obvious conclusion that budget and style don't always trump story and music.

• Playbill reported that Broadway's "Born Yesterday" and "Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles on Broadway" will close.
