Sundance Offers Digital Distribution

Sundance has launched an expansion of its artistic services program that will allow filmmakers to sell and rent their movies independently on iTunes, Amazon.com, Hulu, SundanceNow.com and YouTube. According to The New York Times, movies that have been work-shopped in the Sundance Institute or selected for the festival will be eligible to participate.

Sundance has already pre-negotiated terms with each of these sites, and filmmakers will be able to pick and choose which type of digital delivery is right for their film. No date has been set yet for the start of these services; however, “On the Ice,” a drama that screened at this year’s festival will be one of the first films to take part.
