How to call for Union Members in Your Casting/Job Notice
Read below to find out how to call for only union performers, both union and nonunion performers, or only nonunion performers -- along with info on how to officially notate the status of your union contract or agreement.
- To call for only union performers, we recommend that you post your notice into one of our Union categories, such as "Union Film," "Union TV/Video," "Union Stage," "Union Musicals," or "Union Chorus Calls." (Or use one of the Back Stage posting categories where "Union" and "Nonunion" are not specifically referenced in the category title -- but make sure to note at the end of your notice that you're only seeking union members.)
- To call for both union and nonunion performers, we recommend that you post your notice into one of our Union/Nonunion categories, such as "Union/Nonunion Film," "Union/Nonunion TV/Video," "Union/Nonunion Stage," or "Union/Nonunion Musicals." (Or use one of the Back Stage posting categories where "Union" and "Nonunion" are not specifically referenced in the category title -- for these categories, it's implied that both union and nonunion performers may apply to the project unless stated otherwise at the end of the notice.)
- To call for only nonunion performers, we recommend that you post your notice into one of our Nonunion categories, such as "Nonunion Film," "Nonunion TV/Video," "Nonunion Stage," or "Nonunion Musicals." (Or use one of the Back Stage posting categories where "Union" and "Nonunion" are not specifically referenced in the category title -- but make sure to note at the end of your notice that you're only seeking nonunion submissions.)
- If you are seeking union or union/nonunion performers, then please make sure to list the name of the union, the specific union contract, and the status of the contract (e.g., "planning to apply for," "pending approval," or "approved") -- and fill out the private "Special Requests and Union Details" box on the BackStage.com "Post a Notice" form, where you can note the name and contact info for your union representative and the union ID number of your project (if available) so that Back Stage can quickly verify your union info for you. If you have other relevant union info or an explanation of your union status (or lack thereof), enter this in the "Special Requests and Union Details" box on the BackStage.com "Post a Notice" form as well. Union and union/nonunion notices will be checked with the unions to ensure that the contract status that you’ve listed is correct; so make sure to enter reliable information in this box to avoid delays.
